An effervescent print alive with colour – it would appear these particular Matchsticks have already been ignited… One of a pair of new editions printed by Josie at her west London home in the autumn of 2020. “Both were created using the same screen with a large square exposed on it; part of the square was left open to print flat colour, part had a texture – the individual shapes were created by masking off areas of the screen with tape. I began with a rough idea for the design, printing work-in-progress ideas on acetate to help develop the final composition. With the colours, I was looking for a balance between vibrant and toned down hues.” Mission accomplished.
