We’d long admired Jason’s paintings and murals, so when we saw his experimental monoprints we simply had to invite him to join Look Up.
With a background in graphic design and illustration, Jason is a multidisciplinary artist with a keen eye for colour and an infectious passion for creativity. He lives and works in Walthamstow, where he’s a popular figure on the local art scene and in the broader community. Based at The Mill E17 – a vibrant and bustling community centre run for, and by people in Walthamstow – Jason runs life-drawing classes as Make Your Mark, and makes prints at the awesome Walden Press (also in E17). A series of his recent monoprints featured in the Look Up exhibition Duets / Brutal Beauty, alongside work by Josie Molloy.
Painting, drawing, printmaking and wall effects are among the various mediums Jason uses to explore his approach to colour, texture and composition. Widely acclaimed in their own right, his vibrant murals have led to site-specific commissions with internationally acclaimed artists such as Lothar Gotz and Rebecca Salter. His collaborations with developers and interior designers have been widely published, and his cutting-edge distressed walls feature in homes, bars, restaurants and luxury developments across the UK.
Jason’s recent experiments in monoprinting are bearing magnificent fruit, and so far he's only scratched the surface. We can't wait to see how his printmaking practice develops. Welcome aboard Jason.
