Triskele Orange III
Mary O'Connor
From a series of three Triskele Orange editions, their overlapping forms and graphic colour palettes suggesting energy both contained and released. A deliciously deep orange, grounded by a dark, opaque form and a spectacular blue, energised by a loose, shifting composition. Imbued with an ancient quality, yet undeniably modern, there’s a natural, elemental tone – made all the more engaging by the crisp geometry of Mary’s hand-cut aper stencils… Traditional triskele symbols have three interlocked spirals representing earth, water and sky (or the spiritual, physical and celestial realms). Common features in both ancient and modern Celtic art, triskeles were very much in Mary’s mind when creating her debut Look Up collection, providing a foundation for her experiments with shape and colour. Hand-printed by Mary in Dublin, autumn 2021, launched February 2022.
Details
- Multi-layered silkscreen print
- 300gsm Fabriano 5 paper
- Signed, numbered and titled in pencil
