Regolith Keeping

Kate Banazi

A dynamic print with filigree layers of angular, almost architectural constructions. Compared to the arctic marine blues of its sister print – Regolith ResourceRegolith Keeping has a warm vitality, its woven tapestry of pinks, yellows and heavy blues softened by cooler hues. Found on the surface of planets and moons, regolith is the layer of dust, broken rocks and other materials atop the bedrock; it’s also one of the most important factors in supporting the formation of life. For Kate the title refers to “the layering of colour and texture, harking to the layering of blankets and safety, a protective buffer from the elements.” Protection… a theme all too relevant in our modern age. Taken from a larger series of Regolith works, Regolith Keeping was hand-printed by Kate in her Sydney studio, April 2021.
