New Year, New News

We're four weeks into the new year and it's already shaping up to be a busy one – for Look Up and our featured artists...

We're planning to move up a gear in 2017, introducing our artists and their fantastic prints to ever growing audiences – both here in London and further afield. We're appearing at the Hepworth Print Fair in Wakefield, and we've lined up some great opportunities here in the capital. In February, we'll open the first in a series of exhibitions at Walthamstow restaurant Buhler and Co., a hop and a skip from the William Morris Gallery. We'll keep you posted on those events, but before we do, here's a brief update on the projects and exhibitions that have been occupying some of our featured artists...

'Lotto 2' by Frea Buckler (8-colour silkscreen print, 20 x 20cm, edition of 10, £90)

Frea Buckler's just launched her new website, which you can see here. We launched two new editions by Frea back in December – 'Lotto' and 'Lotto 2' – which are available to buy here, exclusively from Look Up. Josie Molloy launched a new website late last year, featuring images of some fantastic new screenprints. Josie is also one of several up-and-coming creatives featuring at the inaugural Print Stuff – an independent print and publishing fair, which takes place at the De Grey Rooms in York on Saturday 1st April (10–5pm).

Unique A6 screenprints by Bonnie Craig

On the exhibition front, Bonnie Craig has a series of A6 silkscreen prints in Build, an exhibition at Arteria with Gallery 23 – a design-led gift shop and contemporary arts & crafts gallery in Lancaster. The simple colour palettes and geometric shapes provide Bonnie with a foundation for endless experimentation, and we are loving the results. You can see Bonnie's 'Common Chord' series – available exclusively from Look Up – here. Mark McClure's busy building dynamic objects in his studio. You can see some of his most recent work at Unit5 Gallery in Hackney, where he's appearing in group show In Depth – a collective exhibition of street art sculpture and installation (10th–26th February). You can see Mark's first Look Up edition, 'Northern Lights #1', here.

'Northern Lights #1' by Mark McClure (4-colour silkscreen print, 40 x 40cm, edition of 14, £180)

Over the next month or two you can find Fiona Grady's work in no less than three exhibitions in London. The first, A5xn, opened on 26th January at dalla Rosa Gallery ('til February 18th). Fiona's one of fifteen participating artists who have made A5-sized artworks encompassing drawings, photos and sculpture. To celebrate their first year at the Tannery Arts Building in Bermondsey – and the recent introduction of the Project Space – a selection of Tannery-based artists will showcase their work in a group show: open 28th January–19th February, more info here.

'Spin' by Fiona Grady (from 'The Movements' series, 1-colour screenprint, 46.5 x 60cm, £200)

Fiona has also been invited to create a new window installation for Lumen Art Collective's forthcoming School of Light – a three-day exhibition (3rd–5th Feb) exploring the relationship between astronomy and light. We loved the window she created at Well Hung Gallery last year, so we can't wait to see what she comes up with for Lumen. Fiona also writes for Saturation Point, an online editorial and curatorial project for reductive, geometric and systems artists working in the UK. You can read her review of the recent Imperfect Reverse exhibition here. Find out more about Fiona's creative practice and see all of her Look Up editions here.

Supermundane's 'Super Cat' boots for Caterpillar Footwear

We're closing in style with Supermundane, who recently completed a project for Caterpillar Footwear – one of several artists selected to help mark the 25th anniversary of their iconic Colorado boots. Here's an image of the 'Super Cat' boots he designed for the project (see above), and you can watch a short video here. We'll be launching some new Supermundane editions in the not too distant future, but in the meantime check out his 'Folded Universe' series – three A3 Indigo digital prints available exclusively from Look Up.
